Abstract:
Six cases of facial osteomyelitis, as a complication of chronic sinusitis in haemophiliacs-AIDS patients are reported. Osteomyelitis was suggested by an increasement of erithrocyte sedimentation rate. The diagnosis was confirmed by a positive 99mTc-MDP scintigraphy. The erithrocyte sedimentation rate and 67-Gallium citrate scans were used in the follow-up of the therapy. The results suggest that MDP scans showed higher sensitivity and specificity to detect the bane disease in sinusitis and Gallium scans valuable tool in the follow-up of the infection.
