Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to compare the nasal bacterial microbiota of bearers of lepromatosc Hansen's disease who have been treated systematically with Rifampicina, Clofazimina and Sulfa, with a group of healthy individuals without the use of antibiotics. There were collected samples of the mucous membrane of 57 bearers of Hansen's disease admitted to the Hospital of Sanitary Dermatology in Curitiba, and of 40 individuals with normal mucous membrane. During the collection the mucous membranes were checked for the presence of injuries, and the samples were put into cultures for the research of S. aureus and enterobacteria. Among bearers of Hansen's disease was observed resistenee to the antibiotics tested in the antibiogram in 100 % of the total for S. aureus, in 91% of the total for Proteus vulgaris and Proteus mirabilis and 24% of the total for E. cola, Enterobacter aerogenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae and P. aeruginosa. Among the healthy individuals S. aureus was found sensitive to the tested antbiotics in 100% of the total and P. aeruginosa in 0,5% of the total. No samples of the Proteus kind were isolated. It can be concluded that among the studied bearers of Hansen's disease the nasal microbiota is altered and resistent due to the systematic use of triple-type antíbiotics.
