Abstract:
Introduction: The long latency auditory evoked potentials (P300) it has been emphasized, in the current researches, as an instrument of investigation of the central auditory processing, related mainly with the cognitive processes. Purpose: The present study has as objective to research these potentials in a population of healthy young adults, studying the latency and amplitude of the components for both females and males, in order to establish a normative data for future studies including pathologies. Material and methods: Twenty individuals (10 females and 10 males) with normal hearing, without neurological history, of learning and stress (in the present moment) participed of this study. Results: The mean values obtained of latency and amplitude were agreeable with to consulted literature. The females presented latency of N1, P2 and N2 smaller than males and larger amplitude of N1 larger.
