Abstract:
Caroticocavernous fistula an arteriovenous shunt between the internal carotid artery and the cavernous sinus. It is a rare entity. It can be classified according to three criteria: 1) pathogenically into spontaneous or traumatic fistulas; 2) hemodynamically into high-flow or low-flow fistulas; and 3) angiographicully into direct or dural fistulas, the symptoms were usually insidious in onset and the length of time between the onset of the first symptoms and radiographic diagnosis of a caroticocavernous fistula ranged from one to eight months. In this paper, a case of tinnitus caused by caroticocavernous fistula is presented. Pathophysiology, clinical features, treatment and complications are related.
