Abstract:
A Study of the susceptibility to antibiotics of the most frequent bacteria isolated from purulent exsudates of 50 pacients with chronic suppurative otitis media were realized. Eighty two facultative anerobes and sixty three anerobic bacteria were recovered. Mixed aerobic and anerobic isolates were recovered from 28 pacients (70% ). The most common bacteria isolated were: Peptostreptococcus sp (13,1%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (12,4%), Bacteroides sp (8,2%), Proteus mirabilis (6,9%), Staphylococcus aureus (6,9%), Prevotella melaninogenica (6,9%) and Bacteroides fragilis group (6,9%). Multiple drugresistance in the aerobic and facultative bacteria were found and oxacilin resistance was observed in 20% of S. aureus strains studied. Bacteroides fragilis group strains were resistant to penicilin (100%), tetraciclin (80%) and cefoxitin (20%).
