Abstract:
Gases of alkaline batteries as foreign bodies in the ear are unusual, although the proliferation of button-sized alkaline batteries for a variety of eletronic equipment, such as watches, calculators, hearing aids, electronic games and photographic equipment. Three cases of introduction of alkaline battery in the external auditory meatus are related. The physiopathology mechanisms are discussed focusing tissue damage, with a review of literature.
