Abstract:
The number of the people that has speech understanding problems growth on with the age associate with hearing loss and cognitive degeneration. To study the aged complain we made peripheral and central auditive function tests. The result of tonal audiometry showed the presence of senso-rioneural, symmetric, descendent hearing loss that worst with the aging. The light and moderate hearing loss predominated. The intelligibility curve showed high index of rights. There was a relation between the hearing loss and the speech intelligibility. The positive Rollover was found only in 9,28% of the tested ears. In the PSI-SSI we noted a significative loss of speech recognize in all decades that making worst with the aging; it shows compatibility with the complain and it suggers central auditive alteration.
