Drugs for Ear Pain Without Medical Prescription: A Study in Pharmacies.

Abstract:
The authors visited 41 small and middle size drugstores in the city of São Paulo, with the objetive of evaluating advices given by clerks to patients with ear pain. A clinical history of ear pain and/or otorrhea in a three-year old child was presented and asked for advices. Most of the time the advices were inadequate and the doses and time of treatment were insufficients. This situation can lead to complications to the ear or related structures.
