Abstract:
The electrodiagnosis tests should be routinely applied in peripherical facial paralysis patients, since it can be utilized as indicators of a clinical prognosis. The Minimal Excitability Te also called Hilger's Test is well Known from many years. As it is inexpensive and an easy to do test, it is still largely used. In the present study, 195 peripherical facial paralysis patients w evaluated. The Minimal Excitability Test was applied from the third to the fifteenth day of the facial paralysis. We noticed that patients with total clinical recovery had shown a normal test in 95% of cases. While patients with inadequate clinical recovery had altered tests results in 85% of the cases. These findings confirm prognosis value of the Minimal Excitability Test.
