Abstract:
Introduction: The micro and endoscopic surgeries have required frequent anatomical studies about the pterygopalatine fossa and other deep craniofacial regions. New technologies has possibilited the advance in surgical to the neurectomies, epistaxes by transnasal and transinusal accesses. The posterior wall of the pterygopalatine fossa is the anterior part of the pterygoid process of sphenoidal bone. In this wall are the anterior opennings of the round and pterygoid canals, with their vascular and neural very complex anatomical contents enveloping by a periorbital fibrous extension. Material and Methods: By anatomical observation of the 30 pterygopalatine fossa, 5 bilateral and 20 unilateral ones, from adults of both sexes, were studied the latero superior round foramen and the inferomedial pterygoid foramen. Conclusion: A vertical or oblique crest or a single tuberosity was found between the two forames.
