Abstract:
The authors present a rare case of malignant tumor of the external auditory canal. J. C. S., 25 year-old woman, with ear pain and otorrhea for the past one year. She had recieved several treatments with otological drops and oral antibiotics without clinical improvement. We found a small tumor on the external auditory canal, grape-like, -with increase on the superficial vascularization. A biopsy was taken, and revealed a adenoid-cystic carcinoma. The CT scan showed-a tumor restrict to the external portion of the auditory canal without bone erosion. The patient was submitted a "en bloc" excision of the tumor by a modified radical mastoidectomy. The autors conclude that even though the patients age, the patients with external otitis without clinical improvement is important to think in this pathology.
