Casuistry of the Emergency Room of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery of UNIFESP-EPM.

Abstract:
It was achieved a survey in the emergency room of otorrinolaringology of UNIFESP-EPM, between the months of december of 1995 and march of 1998. They were attented, at the period, 41.285 patients, being 42,27% of the masculine sex and 57,73% of the feminine sex, the most common diseases were: acute medium otitis (AMO) -12,51%, sinusitis -10,23%, acute external otitis (AEO) - 9,38%, cerumen - 7,92%, epistaxis - 6,79%, chronicle medium otitis (CMO) - 5,42%, amygalitis - 4,38%, pharyngitis - 4,0%. The survey was done through the patíents control book of the emergency room of otorhinolaryngology. Analysing the sample, we can do a distribution according to the subdivisions of the otorhinolaryngology: otology, - 46,64%, rhinology - 24,36%, HNS - laryngology - 5,97%, pharyngology - 12,17%, stomalogy - 0,73%, others - 10,13%. Other pathologies, even more severe, but less frequent, were also registered, such as: neoplasies, traumas and complications of the infectious processes.
