Histological Behavior of the Ear Cartilage of Rabbits

Abstract:
The healing of 16 ears of 8 adult rabbits was studied after an artificial fold was made by means of a single mononylon suture. The suture were removed at 1, 4,12 and 24 weeks. One month after removal the ears were re-evaluated regarding the persistence of the fold. The animais were sacrificed and their ears were studied histologically. The authors found ossification and new cartilage formation at the site of suture.
