Abstract:
This study reports results of 74 patients who had undergoing myringoplasty in ENT Department of Hospital das Clinicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo during 1990 to 1991. The authors intent to evaluate the role of the systemic antibiotics in the postoperative. The patients were divided in two groups: 37 with good surgical residis, and 37 with poor results. The antimicrobial drugs were used in 75,7% of the cases in the first group and in 70,3% of the second. The results suggest that systemic antibiotic doesn't contribute for the final surgical results.
