Abstract:
Many authors believe that pregnancy is a risk factor for the development of idiopathic peripheral facial palsy (PFP). In this paper the authors studied 12 patients with PFP during pregnancy or immediate after childbirth between 1983 and 1992 in the "Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo". They observed that all the patients presented very good recovery of sintoms with 2 patients with little sequels. They make a evolution study and a possible ethiological suggestion.
