Abstract:
The chronic stenosing external otitis (CSEO), also called chronic refractory external otitis is a extreme form of hipertrofic reaction to a rebel "otitis externa". The signs and symptoms presented in all patients with "CSEO" are: stenosis of the external auditory canal, conductive hearing loss and recurrent external otitis. Tire treatment proposed in tire literature are mainly surgical, with tire objective to increase the diameter of the auditory canal.
The objective of this paper is to present a new clinical procedure, with the use of three agents: salicylic acid 0,5% (keratoplastic) in propylene glicol (emollient solution) and triclorium acetic acid 80% (MA). Three patients with a history of recurrent otitis externa that envolved to CSEO were studied. They were treated for 05 weeks and the results are presented.
