Anatomic sequelae of tympanic membrane after ear ventilation tubes extrusion.

Abstract:
The authors studied 103 patients, with a secretory otitis media diagnosis, who had been undergone a ventilation tube insertion. the present study was undertaken to evaluate the anatomical alterations of the tympanic membrane, after ventilation tube extrusion, in comparison with the tube permanence time. Normal tympanic menbrane was found in 51 ears (37%) and alterations were found in 85 ears (62,5%) which included sequelae or sings of recurrent secretory otitis media.
