Abstract:
The clinical, tomografic, microbiologic and citologic features of a homosexual man with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) who developed a retropharyngeal abscess are presented. The purpose of this article is to discuss some aspects of the deep spaces infections of the head and neck, the need for a team - approach for early recognition and prompt treatment in order to minimize complications and to best offer a successful outcome.
