Abstract: The authors describe the conclusions and recommendations from the First International Conference on Acoustic Neuroma that took place in Copenhagen in August of 1991. Several topics were discussed as follow: the history of neuroma, epideutology, diagnosis, classifications, tumor behaviour and surgical approaches. At the end the authors make personal comments about the recommendations that are of importance in treating neuromas in Brazil.
