Abstract: Maxillary sinusitis is a common disease in otolaryngology practice, which diagnosis and control sometimes requires radiografic study. Ultrasonografic study is suggested (by authors) in the diagnosis of maxillary sinusitis, because of its feasibility, low costs and absence of side effects, allowing many examinations, including pregnants and children. The authors found that ultrasonografic evaluation is very reliable, with great sensitivity, better than normal X-ray films, suggesting as auxiliary method in the diagnosis of maxillary sinusitis. Most accurate evaluation should be performed in order to improve the techinique itself and to collect better data in sequential examination during the inflamation. We believe that the ultrasonografic examination of maxillary sinus will be very useful in otolaryagologic practice.
