Malignant nasopharyngeal tumors. (Epidemology, histological aspects and treatment.)

Abstract: Twenty patients with malignant nasopharyageal tumors are analysed in respect of age, sex, histological aspects, audiological involvement and treatment. 40% of all patients were 20 to 39 years old. Males were afected more frequently in a 2:1 proportion. In regard of histological type, squamous cell carcinoma was the most frequent (40%), followed by lymphoepithelioma (25%). 50% of patients presented otological sympiotns with audiometric repercursion in 45 %. Radiotherapy was the treatment of chose in 65 %, radiotherapy plus surgery in 20% and quimiotherapy in 0,5%.
