Abstract: The management of the Otitis Media with Effusion (OME) shows a difficult padronization, due to the fact that there is a combination of important factors in the pathogenesis of the disease. Several different treatment modalities are applied by doctors. Aiming at the better knowledgement of the current concepts regarding management of the OME, a survey was made among 150 ENT doctors from different brazilian's regions, by sending them a standard questionary. Eighty questionaries were sent back. The data showed that the great majority prescribed as primary therapy antibiotics for 8 to 10 days treatment (amoxycillin in 40% of the cases), combined with steroids for 11 to 15 days. In the following visits there was no predominance of any group of drugs. Regarding to surgical intervention, there was no agreement about the precise moment to do it. Most of the doctors indicate short-term tympanostomy tubes. The authors analyze different treatments proposed and compare with the data found in the national and international literature.
