Abstract: Introduction: Although well known by the otolaryngologist, the professional voice user has lack its caracterization regarding the diagnosis and therapy. Purpose - The aim of this study is to establish a protocol of caracterization of the one who use the voice in a professional way, trying to obtain levels of ENT attention. Material and Methods: 151 professional voice users were grouped in levels by demand, finesse, impact, and dependence of the voice. The complains, laryngeal exam, treatment and evolution of patients followed in a private office in the last 2 years were studied. Results: There was no fixed match between profession and category. In the level I the main complains referred to potency 14/19 and sensibility 19/19; in the level II were quality 23/46 and sensibility 28/46; in the level III sensibility 68/85 and modulation 75/86. The laryngeal findings were muscular tension in levels I and II and reflux in level III. Conclusion: The categorization by use can be more reliable for medical use than the profession label itself. The findings were different depending on the level. This may indicate the need of more studies in each vocal category besides the profession knowledge itself.
