Abstract: Allergic Rhinites frequently causes sneezing, rhinorhea, itching and nasal blockage. In spite of this, the diagnoses has not to be based only in the clintçal symptoms, because any rhinitis can resemble nasal allergy. Ninety one patients were evaluated prospectively with the purpure of analysing the use of nasal cytology as diagnostic method, comparing it with skin test, the "Gold standart" of this work The results indicated that based on nasal eosinophils it was posible to diagnose correctly about 70% of the cases. The authors conclude that citology of the nose is usefull in allergy diagnosis considering patients with clinic suggesting allergic rhinitis. However it isn't trusty to exclude the disease, because of the low preditive negative value (53%).
