Abstract: Total or partial visual lass after intranasal therapeutics are a rare complication and certainly disastrous, where most of the patient feels as a victim of malpractice.
Intraturbinal injection of corticosteroides are the major cause.
We present a case os a female, 19 years, history of nasal obstruction, with a left inferior, spur, submitted a septoplasty that presents a partial visual loss immediately after surgery, caused by a thrombosis of the central retinal artery. Despite the early medication by a ophtalmologist, it didn't return to normal vision. No surgical manipulation of turbinates are made.
Pathotogenetic mechanisms, procedures and rules for prevention of this important complication are discussed.
