Risk factors for otitis media.

Abstract: Otitis media is commom in the otolaryngologie pratice. Tire study of the factors that increase its incidence is important on diagnosis, prevention and treatment. This study is a review about this factors to stablish what are their individual importance. Male sex, day-tare institutions, age less than 2 years-old, first attack of otitis within the first year of life, history of recurrent attacks of otitis media, upper respiratory infections, while rate, tom, income, breast feeding in supure position, winter months, numerous family and history of chronic otitis media, cranio facial anormalities, Down syndrome, allergy, adenoids and passive smoking exposure, are believed to be risk factors for otitis media. We conclude that some of these are potentially evitable, and their identification may help in tire prevention and therapeutics of this patology.
