Abstract: A double-blind study was performed in 79 patientes with diagnosis of Bell's palsy, seen in ENT Department of Hospital das Clínicas da Universidade de São Paulo, from 1989 to 1990. In order to stabilish the diagnosis of Bell's palsy, were performed clinical and subsidiary exams. A randomized study was dope, and the pacient recieved dexametasona (0,13 mg/Kg/day) or placebo. The patients were evaluated weekly until their final evolution. Mie patients were divided in 2 groups of 20 persons, 39 persons were excluded because they didn't comme for the follow up. The medial final evolution time was 61.45 days for the dexametasona group (7 to 240 days) and 40.95 days for placebo group (8 to 70 days). The autors conclued that there wasn't no significant diferences betwen dexametasona's group and placebo's group analising the final evolution quality and reeuperation's time.
