Nasal Septal Deformity in Cleft Palate and Lip.

Abstract: Cleft lip and palate are almost always accompanied by extreme septum deformation. The authors present twenty four cases (cleft patients) undergone septoplaty surgery. The surgical technique applied, the cleft side and age are described in this article. The surgical results and the complication from the treatment, specially those secondary anatomical alterations, are also related. An other aspects of this pathology are analyzed and the conclusion shows that this cranio facial anomaly and its repair may have variable effects on future correction of nasal septum.
