Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of a research carried out in 30 drugstores of the city of São Paulo, in relation to the treatment of acutesinusitis in children, a common situation for Otolaryngologists and Pediatrics. The results showed that only 36,67% of the drugstores advised for a visit to the physician. Only 6 (28,5%) out of 21 drugstores that prescribed some medication used antibiotics and none did it correctly. The authors conclude that a better education of the population and a closer control in drugstores is essential to diminish the risks of an incorrect treatment for acute sinusitis.
