Abstract: The authors studied the Transient Evoked and the Acoustic Distortion Products Otoacoustic Emissions, in a group of 30 normal Newborns from the Nursery of the Department of Pediatrics of the Santa Casa de S.Paulo Hospital. It was not possible, just in two newboms, the Emissions obtention. The authors concluded that the method beyond objective is simple and fast, it's not necessary any medication, since the physiological sleep after the sucking allowed an efficient and quiet examen. They also concluded that the Acoustic Distortion Products Emissions were more efficient in the coclear hearing evaluation of the studied newborns.
