Abstract: The aim of this experiment was to describe the hearing effects in musicians of a Brazilian "Trio Elétrico", compared to symphonic orchestra and rock musicians. The population was constituted of 21 musicians, ranged from 15 to 45 years old, who were submitted to anamnesis and minimum audible level for pure tones in a silent, environment, before and after performance. The sound pressure levels al the vehicle were measured. The results have shown these levels not to be different between the these groups, but 100% of the "Trio Elétrico " musicians presented TTS from 10 to 35 dBHL and tinnitus (76%). The conclusions outline the importance hearing conservation program for musicians and improve the awareness for these professionals toward the risks of excessively amplified music for their hearing.
