Abstract: The laryngocele and the saccular cyst are two Tare benign lesions of the larynx, similar in that both represent an abnormal dilatation of the laryngeal saccule and distinguished because in the saccular cysts its lumen is isolated from the interior of the larynx and does not contain air. This presentation is a twenty-two year (1973-1994) retrospective study about 9 patients with primary laryngoceles and saccular cysts (not associated with laryngeal tumors). Five had laryngoceles (3 exteriorized and 2 internal), and four had saccular cysts (3 lateral and 1 anterior). All patients were adults ranged in age from 18 to 69 and were successfully treated by an external approach (submucous resection through thyrohyoid membrane). AI/ patients had a 2 year minimum follow-up and there were no recurrence.
