Abstract: The success of myringoplasty depends on the Eustachian tube function, among others. In this study, the Eustachian tube function is analized in 30 patients with chronic otitis media with indication of myringoplasty, before surgery, in order to verify the relation between the Eustachian tube function and the surgical results. The equipressive function is analized through the insuflation and deflation test, and the clearance function by means of instilation of tecnecium in the middle ear. The insuflation test is the best test employed in thisstudy forsurgical prognosis. But the disfunction in this test does not contra-indicate the surgery, because not every patient with disfunction in this test had poor surgical results.
