Abstract: The authors studied 10 patients with severe tinnitus non responsive to clinic treatment and submitted to the therapy of tinnitus masking. The efficiency of the tinnitus masking in the relief of the tinnitus and the, presence of the Residual Inhibition were evaluated. In eighty percent of the cases there were significant differences of tinnitus intensity before and after treatment and there patients reported improvement of their quality of life. Thus, it suggests that the use of auditive masking after abscense of response lo drug therapy is an efective alternative to the relief of the tinnitus.
