Congenital Nasal Pyriform Aperture Stenosis: Case Report.

Abstract: Congenital nasal Pyriform aperture stenosis is an unsual cause of airmay obstruction in the newborn and was recently described by BROWN et al in 1989, who report 6 cases followed by ARLIS et al in 1992 who described another 6 cases totalizing 12 cases reported in literature until 1993. This anomaly may produces sigus symptomsof nasal airmay obstruction in newborns and infants similar to those seen in bilateral posterior choanal atresia. Computed tomography confirms the diagnosis and delineatesthe anomaly. We describe a patient with the diagnosis of congenital nasal Pyriform aperture stenosis (CNPAS) froco Clinical Hospital of Paraná Federal University in 1993, treated whtith surgical enlargement of the nasal Pyriform aperture via a sublabial aproach.
