Some Characteristics of Voice and Laryngeal Morphophysiology in Severely Hearing - Handicapped Patients.

Abstract: A study about voice characteristics (pitch, loudness and nasality), presence of vocal effort, and upper airway allergy was conducted through the use of questionnaires distributed to teachers and parents of 89 subjects with severe and profound hearing impairments. Morphologic and functional evaluations of larynx was also carried out through indirect laringoscopy. The results have shown important alterations in all aspects evaluated and the data obtained were compared with the ones in the literature.
