Abstract: The cocleovestibular system of 20 patients in the initial stage of the disease or asymptomatic with diagnosis of AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) was investigated by otoneurologic tests. The high incidence of cocleovestibular symptoms (55%) occured associated with high prevalence of alteration in audiologic tests (68%) and lows but considerable number of caloric tests alterations (20%). The direct action of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) or opportunistic infections and ototoxic drugs customary used for the treatment of HIV-related manifestations must justify the high incidence of these alterations observed.
