Abstract: Amyloidosis is a disease characterized by extracelular deposition of a homogeneous and eosiniphilic substance in one or more parts of the body, that has exclusive ultra-structural characteristics and can change according to the clinical features of the disease. The larynx is the more affected site in the upper aerodigestive tract. The authors report a case of primary laryngeal amyloidosis in a 23 year-old female patient. Topics as histopathologic and clinical features, diagnosis and therapeutical options are discussed based on a literature review. The authors emphasize the high grade of suspicion necessary for the diaganosis as well as the slow progression and good prognosis of the disease.
