Abstract: The objective of the actual work is the precocious detection of auditory deficiency through behavioral reflexes responses to calibrated sounds. The Amplaid Reactometer was used in a display corresponding to 10% Berçário do Hospital Universitário - UCPel' average yearly newborns up to their 10th day of life. After stimulation, two observers verified the presence or absence of the cochleal-palpebral reflexes, Moro reflex and cephalic reaction, and anterior e posterior cardiac frequencies. One hundred eighty six newborns were tested and most reacted to 3. Hz, with the cochleal-palpebral reflex and no case auditory deficiency was diagnosed. The research demonstrates the detection method simplicity and the viability of its inclusion in routine triage methods in our neonatal service, allowing the precocious diagnosis and treatment.
