Abstract: Mucosal melanoma is an uncommon type of melanoma which frequently affects oral and nasal mucoss. Initially, the authors briefly introduce the study with description of epidemiological characteristics, clinic behavior, diagnosis, staging and treatment of the tumor. Then, they narrate the case of a caucasian woman, 35 years old, carrier of multiple cutaneous melanocytic nevis, sucidenly affected by a mucosal melanoma on oropharynx, confirmed by histopathologic exam after surgical ressection. Two months later lesion cm hipopharynx, submandibular lymph nodes metastatic and multiple subcutaneous nodes have appeared and, later were eliminate(1 by means of chemotherapy. This case stresses the importânce of the early diagnosis.
