Abstract: The goal of the present study was to analyze the laryngeal functions of 36 patients, with glottic cancer classified as T1a, T1b, T2 and T3, submitted to vertical partial laryngectomies and reconstructed by several surgical techniques. From the data obteined we could conclude that the respiratory and sphincteric functions of the larynx showed to be well preserved. On the phonatory function, the supraglottic region showed to be the prefereable site of phonatory production.
