O ELETROCOCLEOGRAMA NA CRIANÇA

Os autores estudaram o Eletrococleograma (ECoG) em 27 ouvidos correspondentes a 16 crianças atendidos na Clínica Universitária de O.R.L. - BORDEAUX-França (Serv. Prof.M. Portmann).

O ECoG é um exame objetivo de exploração da audição que consiste no registro da atividade do nervo auditivo por meio de um eletrodo colocado diretamente sobre o promontório através da membrana timpânica. Este método é utilizado, correntemente, no Serv. do Prof. M. Portmann.

Os autores concluem:

1.° - O ECoG de disacusia de transmissão foi verificado em 4 ouvidos;

2.° - Foram encontrados 13 ouvidos com ECoG normal;

3.° - O ECoG de percepção com resposta recrutante foi observado em 2 ouvidos;

4.° - Não houve resposta eletrococleográfica em 8 ouvidos;

5.° - O ECoG na criança, portanto, se reveste de grande interesse e importância:

a) - no diagnóstico precoce da surdez na criança;

b) - por fornecer informações essenciais sobre o funcionamento do ouvido testado, independentemente, para cada ouvido;

c) - por permitir a medida objetiva da audição nas crianças de poucos meses ou naquelas que apresentam dificuldades na realização de testes audiométricos subjetivos;

d) - por permitir uma aparelhagem segura e uma melhor orientação de reeducação precoce da criança.
